What We Have and What’s Expected for the Week of June 29th

Place Your Orders Here!

We really amped up the local fruit game last week with the first figs of the season, Valencia oranges, amazing Alabama peaches and some of the last blueberries of the season.

We sold out of the figs almost immediately, but are expecting more on Tuesday by midday or early afternoon, along with more peaches and sweet corn.

There's tons of vine-ripened local tomatoes right now, too, most from Screaming Oaks Mushroom Farm, along with more creole tomatoes from Faust Farms and mixed cherry tomatoes from Fat Cat Farms.

The Queen of the Night and Early Girl are my favorite tomato varieties right now, both smaller slicers with big concentrated tomato flavor. But they're all good!

Valencia oranges are a rare summer ripening citrus and they're so refreshing and sweet.

Besides the fruits, we also have lots of mushrooms, limited salad greens, plenty of microgreens, root veggies, peppers, pickling cucumbers, zephyr squash, fingerling potatoes and more for all your summer meals. The first okra of the year went fast last week and we’ll get more from River Queen on Tuesday!

And we stocked our Local Cooling Farms grass-fed, grass-finished beef on Friday. Some things went to back stock and apparently the butcher forgot five of our bags in the freezer, so we have to get those later this week. But there’s more primal blend ground beef at long last, plus filet, ribeye, chuck roasts, rump roasts, flank, skirt and hanger steaks and more!

For other proteins, we are getting low on a few cuts of our Local Cooling Farms pastured pork (out of tenderloin, pork chops, Boston butt and picnic roasts, baby back ribs and Italian sausage links), but we are bringing another group of pigs to the processor on Wednesday and should have all that pork back by mid July.

We also have our Local Cooling Farms wild-foraged goat meat, Bayou Sarah Farms buffalo, pastured chicken mainly from A&A Acres, Gulf seafood from Anna Marie Seafood and Tien Dat tofu in several varieties.

More dairy will be delivered on Tuesday (Feliciana’s Best Creamery) and Wednesday (Southern Maids Dairy) as usual and we’ll restock our LCF pastured eggs throughout the week as needed. There’s plenty of mixed size chicken eggs and much more limited duck eggs and small eggs from our juvenile (pullet) chickens.

We also restocked Guidry’s glazed pecans in both sizes and pecan butter last week. We still have their pecan oil and their pecan meal should be coming this week!

Plus there’s freshly roasted coffee from Flamjeaux, herbal teas and tinctures, honey and maple syrup, elderberry juices and syrups, seasonings and salts, hot sauces and chili oil, fermented veggies, kombucha, jams and jellies, rice and grits and lots more.

What We Have & What’s Expected This Week by Category:

  • Donations for Mutual Aid: We did multiple community drop offs last week with abundant summer produce — eggplant, tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, squash, tofu, bread and more! Thank you for your gifts to allow us to continue to make these donations — especially right now when there’s so much produce!

  • Pastured Eggs: Just regular mixed size chicken eggs to start the week, restocking a few dozen duck eggs and pullet eggs as we have them throughout the week.

  • Pastured Dairy: There’s limited goat milk and several cheeses to start the week and we’ll get more fresh whole milk, cream, chocolate milk on Tuesday and more goat milk, yogurt and cheeses on Wednesday.

  • Bread & Pasta: Fresh bread and brioche buns will be delivered on Wednesday and Friday as usual and we have some frozen brioche buns and sliced honey oat loaves and pizza dough, as well as crostini and pizza dough. Pasta is out, but we’ll be getting a lot of shapes in fresh on Tuesday.

  • Local Produce: Cold-pressed turmeric juice, fresh or frozen blueberries, Valencia oranges, apple or Thai mint, chives, cherry tomatoes as well as lots of slicers (Creole, Early Girl, Jolene and Queen of the Night), garlic, red spring onions, turmeric root, chestnut, oyster, pioppino or shiitake mushrooms, radish, red cabbage, snap pea or sunflower microgreens, baby kale or tatsoi salad mixes, sweet corn, black beauty eggplant, banana, jalapeño or shishito peppers, orange carrots, red beets, pickling cucumbers, hakurei turnips, salad radishes, zephyr squash and fingerling potatoes. We’re expecting more figs, peaches, sweet peppers, okra, daikon radishes and more on Tuesday and more salad greens and restocked tomatoes on Thursday.

  • Plant-Based Protein: All three fresh tofu options — plain, black mushroom and red chili lemongrass, plus fried black mushroom tofu cubes, as well.

  • Bone Broth: Currently due to a required labeling change, we only have chicken bone broth from A&A Acres or pet bone broth from Credo Farms. We should be getting beef and trinity back in stock soon.

  • Forest-Raised Pork: Getting low on some pork cuts and we’re out of chops, roasts and tenderloins. But not to worry because we’re bringing pork to the butcher on Wednesday and should have it back in two weeks or so. In the meantime, there’s always tons of pork jowls, smoked hocks, trotters and bones on sale, plus bacon, bacon ends, stir fry strips or stew meat, spare ribs, Andouille, brats, large breakfast sausage links, Cajun or kielbasa links, plus plain ground pork, and ground breakfast, chorizo or Italian sausages. There’s also ears, liver, tongue, tails, lard to render and lard soap.

  • Grassfed Beef: We restocked a bunch of favorite cuts on Friday including primal ground beef, filet, ribeye, flank, skirt, hanger and bavette steaks, tri tip, chuck roasts, rump roasts and more. We also have ground beef in two sizes, NY strip steaks, top sirloin and sirloin tip, Denver, brisket, tenderized round steaks and fat to render.

  • Grassfed Buffalo: Don’t sleep on the buffalo bones for bone broth! Plus there’s ground buffalo, too, but it’s going fast!

  • Wild-Foraged Goat Meat: There’s goat chorizo sausage and plain ground goat, plus three types of goat chops, ribs, riblets, shanks and bones.

  • Pastured Poultry: Cajun green onion chicken sausage, chicken breakfast sausage patties and ground chicken, plus whole and half birds, tenders, breasts, thighs, leg quarters, drumsticks, wings, backs/frames for bone broth, feet, livers and skin, plus dehydrated feet and skin for pet treats. We’ll get more chicken hearts on Tuesday and more dehydrated livers for pet treats on Wednesday.

  • Coffee & Tea: There’s lots of herbal and reishi based teas from Family Fungi, and Flamjeaux restocked us with more freshly roasted coffee in several roasts and origins on Thursday.

  • Dips & Condiments: Out of hummus because the Nur’s Kitchen family was on vacation last week, but we’ll be back to normal on Thursday!

  • Pantry: We restocked Guidry’s glazed pecans in both sizes and pecan butter last week! There’s also popcorn, plus fresh-milled flour from both Barton Springs Mill and Bellegarde. And there’s infused vinegars, salts and sugars from Rose Wagon Ranch and Texas olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Plus mushroom and kelp-based seasonings, dehydrated mushrooms, mushroom powder, chili oil and hot sauces. GraNOLA bars are out and GraNOLA is getting a little low, but we will restock soon.

  • Pet Treats: Pet bone broth, plus dehydrated chicken feet and skins.

  • Sweets: Wisconsin maple syrup is back! And there’s also local molasses, plus raw honey in plastic squeeze bottles, elderberry juice, infused blueberry honey and creamed honey. We are stocking honey in glass jars from Cockeyed Farms on Thursday.
