We kept the big restock vibes going this week with a big delivery of pickles, fruit jams and pepper jellies from Josey’s Goods last week!
Plus we got new sea moss products from Sage’s Sea Moss in Lafayette! Sea moss is a nutrient-dense type of seaweed/algae that is abundant in essential vitamins, minerals and antioxidants, including iodine, magnesium, potassium, and vitamins A, C, and E.
For Nikki and Peter McIntosh, sea moss is not just a commodity but a symbol deeply ingrained in their Jamaican roots. Known as Irish moss in the Rastafarian community, sea moss held significance beyond culinary use, revered for its aphrodisiac properties and later for its extraordinary superfood health benefits.
Nikki sought out sea moss for postpartum healing and eventually Peter crafted their first batch of sea moss gel. Since 2020, they have perfected the recipes, added new flavors and expanded their offerings. They sell at the Lafayette Farmer’s Market and through their online shop and we’re proud to add their products to our offerings.
There’s several types of sea moss gels (infused with blue spirulina, elderberry, hibiscus) as well as a beverage, SereniTEA, made withs sea moss, soursop, lemon, lemongrass, ginger and cane sugar.
Last week, we also restocked various pork cuts and sausages as well as ground beef, short ribs and ground goat.
We still have a great variety of seafood and chicken, too, though we are low on whole birds and chicken breasts until Wednesday and we’ll be out of chicken sausages until the fall season.
We also got more La Rive Kombucha on Friday — blueberry and sea salt watermelon, two customer favorite flavors.
Last Saturday brought us more Gingerbooch at long last! There's Lemon Ginger or Satsuma Ginger Kombucha and Probiotic Lemonade or Limeade, too. Plus traditional or curry kimchi.
We should be getting La Rive kombucha today, too!
And we got our first delivery of aquaponically grown lettuce from Harvest to Health Farms at the AgriAquaculture Center of Excellence in Harvey. It is sold as romaine, but I think the exact variety if another type of leaf lettuce as it’s not as crunchy or robust as romaine, but leafier and absolutely delicious.
There’s a few other salad greens left from Homegrown in Folsom and we’ll restock on Thursday as usual.
There’s pullet eggs from Credo Farms (along with restocked frozen blueberries and tallow balm) to start the week and we’ll restock eggs from Hereau Farms on Tuesday, as well. Currently all of our Local Cooling Farms eggs are going to our wholesale accounts. The hens are laying less in the heat, but as long as we can source pastured eggs from other farms for the shop, we’ll do that and try to keep all of our customers, including bakeries and restaurants, happy!
We have some sale pints of half & half and heavy cream to start the week and we expect more fresh whole milk, chocolate milk, half & half and creole cream cheese from Feliciana’s Best Creamery on Tuesday as usual.
We’ll also get more goat milk and cheeses we’re out of on Wednesday and we should be getting our first delivery of Greek yogurts and cottage cheese from Berry Hill Farms on Tuesday, too!
There’s also tofu, hummus, graNOLA, rice, grits and clay peas, stone-milled flour, frozen brioche buns and honey oat loaves, coffee, teas and tinctures, dehydrated mushrooms, oils and vinegars, infused salts and sugars, seasonings, hot sauces, chili oil, honey, molasses and maple syrup and more.

What We Have & What’s Expected This Week by Category:
Donations for Mutual Aid: General grocery shares or produce shares available for purchase. These gifts allow us to drop off veggies, milk, bread, hummus, tofu and more to community fridges. We delivered some cucumbers and zucchini to the community fridge in the Healing Center on Saturday and we should be ready for a larger drop by the end of this week!
Pastured Eggs: We’re starting the week with small(er) size eggs from the juvenile hens (aka pullets) at Credo Farms. We’ll also get more mixed size larger eggs from Hereau Farms on Tuesday.
Pastured Dairy: Once again, a few pints of half & half and heavy cream on sale to start the week! We’ll get more of Feliciana’s Best Creamery products on Tuesday as usual, along with our first delivery of Berry Hill Farms Greek yogurts (plain or a few flavors) and cottage cheese. Southern Maids will restock their goat cheeses and goat milk on Wednesday, too.
Bread & Pasta: There’s plenty of frozen brioche buns, honey oat loaves and pizza dough as well as crostini. We’ll also get more fresh brioche buns, honey oat loaves, baguettes, ciabatta and country loaves on Wednesday and Friday. Pasta sold out last week, but we are expecting a bunch to be delivered on Tuesday from Il Supremo.
Local Produce: We’re starting the week a little lean on produce as we reach the late summer doldrums and sold out of a lot last week! The head lettuce is a bright spot, along with limited salad greens and microgreens from Homegrown in Folsom and Rose Wagon Ranch. There’s also cold pressed turmeric juice, turmeric root, frozen blueberries, cucumbers, beets, jalapeño peppers and delicata or zephyr squash. On Tuesday, we’re expecting more sweet peppers, okra, red cabbage, herbs and possibly muscadine grapes and then we’ll get more salad greens and maybe eggplant on Thursday!
Plant-Based Protein: Plain or both flavors of fresh tofu, plus both flavors of fried tofu cubes.
Bone Broth: Currently due to a required labeling change, we only have chicken bone broth from A&A Acres or pet bone broth from Credo Farms.
Forest-Raised Pork: There’s so much in the pork category, including tenderloin, baby back ribs, stir fry and crosscut hocks (not cured or smoked), plus the new pork steaks, boneless chops, roasts, stew meat, spare ribs, jowls, trotters, bones, organ meats and lard along with all of our ground, linked and smoked sausages and bacon!
Grassfed Beef: We restocked all the types of ground beef on Wednesday — 1 lb, 2 lb and primal. They’re all going fast, though, especially the latter two! There’s also top sirloin or sirloin tip steaks, chuckeye steaks, tri tip, brisket, tenderized cube steaks, rump roasts, top round roasts, stew meat, short ribs, tongue, bones and fat to render.
Wild-Foraged Goat Meat: It’s almost time for us to process again to restock cuts. But in the meantime, we have ground goat meat, shanks, riblets, rib racks and bones.
Pastured Poultry: There’s plain or traditional/seasoned bone broth, plus ground chicken, half chickens, tenders, breasts, thighs, drumsticks, wings, feet and livers, along with dehydrated skin for pet treats. We will restock whole birds, leg quarters, feet and dehydrated feet and more on Wednesday.

Dips & Condiments: There’s several hummus options to start the week and we’ll get more of all the flavors and sizes on Thursday as usual.
Pantry: GraNOLA bars are going fast like usual, but there’s plenty of GraNOLA! And there’s also customer favorites glazed pecans, pecan butter and Crop to Pop-corn, along with pecan meal for baking and fresh-milled flour from both Barton Springs Mill and Bellegarde, plus infused vinegars, salts and sugars from Rose Wagon Ranch and Texas olive oil and balsamic vinegar and mushroom and kelp-based seasonings, dehydrated mushrooms, mushroom powder, chili oil and hot sauces.
Pet Treats: Pet bone broth, plus dehydrated chicken skins.
Sweets: Wisconsin maple syrup is stocked up! And there’s plenty raw honey in glass jars, along elderberry juice, infused blueberry honey and creamed honey and molasses, too. Should be restocking squeeze bottles of honey from Homestead Harvest soon.
