Apple Season is Here! Plus Mushrooms, Eggplant, Grapes, Salad Greens, Glazed Pecans, Fig Preserves, Coffee & More!

What We Have and What’s Expected for the Week of September 8th

Place Your Orders Here!

Apples from Northern Alabama are here and it should be the beginning of a long season!

We’re starting the season with new Ginger Gold, plus Gala, Fuji and Red Delicious. We see some of these varieties continue for many months and then mid and later season varieties like Arkansas Black, Cameo, Dixie Red, Golden Delicious, Jonagold, Jonathan, Mutsu, Pink Lady and Winesap will join the lineup, too!

Apples are such a bright spot of late August or September as we wait for more fall crops. This year we’re happy to have Homegrown in Folsom supplying salad greens that he grows throughout the summer under shade cloth and row covers, too. In previous years, we’d be without salad greens even still. And the varieties of microgreens from Rose Wagon Ranch really brighten the produce offerings, too!

We still do have lots of late summer veggies like eggplant and peppers in stock, with more cucumbers, eggplant, okra and summer squash expected on Tuesday. I will also cut more Italian and lemon basil, along with oregano and rosemary on Tuesday or Wednesday, as well.

And after a break with some grow room issues for Screaming Oaks, fresh mushrooms are back (in bulk one pound bags from Family Fungi). We also got some of their new Fais Dodo tincture (an herbal sleepy time blend) and their Lion’s Mane Vanilla, reformulated as a glycerine tincture with no alcohol. Hoping for more mushrooms from Screaming Oaks on Thursday, as well.

Plus there's plenty of eggs, pastured chicken and pork, all cuts of wild-foraged goat meat (and ground goat meat on sale), limited Gulf seafood, tofu and more. I’m hoping to have some good news about beef on Tuesday afternoon!

There’s also a new large size fig preserves, restocked coffee, hummus and pesto (more coming on Thursday as usual), lots of frozen honey oat loaves, plus brioche buns in two sizes, various shapes of frozen pasta, jam and jellies, rice and grits, olive oil and balsamic and infused vinegars, herbal teas and tinctures, salts and seasonings and more.
