The produce category this time of year continues to be the standout. All that we’re really waiting on for fall and winter is beets, carrots and more brassicas (like broccoli, Brussels sprouts, red and green cabbages and cauliflower) and citrus (though it’s going to be a rough year with some pest and rust issues affecting Louisiana orchards, unfortunately).
In the meantime, we got cool season herbs (cilantro, dill, parsley and scallions) in for the first time this season on Thursday to join Italian and lemon basil and garlic chives. Some have sold out already, but we’ll get more from River Queen Greens on Tuesday.
We also got a bunch of mushrooms, many of which have sold, too, but there’s lion’s mane, shiitake and shimofuri currently and more oyster, pioppino and possibly chestnut coming Thursday, as well.
Other new items in the last week include is Napa cabbage and mixed kale bunches from Cicada Calling Farms and cold pressed turmeric juice from Homegrown in Folsom.
Plus gouda & apple chicken sausage is back, spare ribs are on sale again (and there's lots of them) and we have lots of fruit jams and pepper jellies that would make a great glaze or homemade barbecue sauce!
There's also buffalo, chorizo and green onion chicken sausages, which works out since we’re low on pork sausages until the end of November! We also have all the other chicken cuts from whole and half birds to breasts, tenders, thighs, leg quarters, drumsticks, wings, backs, feet, organ meats and plain ground chicken.
We restocked Nur's Kitchen hummus and pesto on Thursday and had quite a run on it already. The roasted garlic flavor now comes in large, but we sold out of that, getting more this coming Thursday. There’s also dill & feta, olive salad, roasted red pepper and traditional in the meantime.
Compostella brought us half dozens of duck eggs for the first time, too, but they're already sold out. More later this week, if not Tuesday, then with Thursday’s delivery.
There’s plenty of chicken eggs to start the week, even as production is dipping a little and we’re anxiously waiting on our new flock to start laying.
There's also lots of frozen brioche buns in both hamburger and slider/dinner roll size, as well as honey oat loaves, pizza dough and crostini. Fresh bread will be delivered on Wednesday and Friday as usual.
Plus there's grass-finished beef from Little Creek, other cuts of our pastured pork and wild-foraged goat meat, limited Gulf seafood (more coming this week, for real this time!), graNOLA, crop-to-popcorn, heirloom grits and cornmeal, stone-milled flours, oils and vinegars, infused salts and sugars, fermented veggies, dried mushrooms, seasonings, coffee and herbal teas and more.
