It's finally apple season, a few weeks later than the last couple of years.

Really the apples were ready at a similar time as last year, just the logistics of getting them down here from Northern Alabama took longer.

In any case, we've got five varieties to start the season: Fuji, Golden Delicious, Jonagold, Mutsu and Red Delicious. Each have a description of size and flavor in the individual item in the online storefront. Other customer favorites like Cameo, Granny Smith, Pink Lady and Winesap are later season varieties that will be coming in the next few weeks/months as the season progresses.

Same with last week, we expect to have plenty of our Local Cooling Farms eggs all week as the new flock ramps up and the older flocks have stabilized from their drop with the heat and molting. We up on duck eggs, too, so I put those on sale, normally $16 per dozen, they're $12 per dozen.

We’re still waiting on the goat and beef we brought to the processor to be finished, so in the meantime we have limited ground beef and ground goat, plus ground buffalo and pork. We also did a pork restock on Thursday, so there's more bone-in pork chops, ground pork, bacon, sausages, ribs and more.

Gingerbooch beverages and veggies ferments came in on Saturday, so there’s more kombucha in two flavors, probiotic lemonade or limeade and kraut and kimchi options.

We got more lettuce from Harvest to Health late last week too, this time that Monte Carlo romaine variety, which I love for Caesar salads.

And we restocked Homegrown in Folsom salad greens, cucumbers and zephyr squash, but lettuce mix and spring mix were more limited this week, so they sold out right away. Baby komatsuna and baby tat soi greens are all back this week, along with arugula and braising mix. There's also red rover radishes, too, for the first time in a few weeks!

We also have several shapes of frozen pasta, honey oat loaves and brioche buns. More fresh pasta is coming on Tuesday as usual.

We had a slow week for Feliciana’s Best dairy last week, so we’re starting the week with a few sale items and we’ll restock fresh dairy on Tuesday as usual. We also have various cheeses and yogurts, made from cow and goat milk from Berry Hill Farm and Southern Maids and both of those dairies will restock us on Wednesday, too.

Chicken is a little limited this week as A&A Acres sold out of some of the last of their inventory at markets on Saturday. But they start processing the first birds of the fall season on Tuesday and we’ll restock on Wednesday.

We also have lots of kombucha from La Rive, restocked coffee, sea moss gels and tea, fermented veggies, jams, jellies, pickles and preserves, rice and grits, stone-milled flour, pecan products, herbal teas and tinctures, maple syrup, honey and more.

What We Have & What’s Expected This Week by Category:

  • Donations for Mutual Aid: General grocery or egg shares available for purchase. We once again did two drops last week with hummus, bread, cream cheese, plus milk, cream and half & half. We are overdue to drop off a bunch of produce, so I removed that donation option until we catch up and added the egg share back since the young pullet flock is picking up their laying and we may have more than there’s demand for soon!

  • Pastured Eggs: We got some more rainbow eggs from the heritage flocks at Fat Cat Farm and we have plenty of our mixed size chicken eggs from our mature flocks at Local Cooling Farms. We also have both duck and pullet eggs on sale since there’s a lot of them!

  • Pastured Dairy: We’ve goat goat milk and a sale on whole milk, heavy cream, half & half and both pints and half gallons of chocolate milk to start the week. We also have cottage cheese, ricotta cheese and whipped cream cheese from Berry Hill Farm, chèvre, goat creole cream cheese, goat feta and yogurt from Southern Maids and several flavors of Greek yogurt from Berry Hill. And all three dairies are restocking on Tuesday and Wednesday this week as usual.

  • Bread & Pasta: There’s several shapes of frozen pastas in stock (creste bucca, fettuccine, gemelli, linguine and spaghetti) as well as frozen honey oat loaves, brioche buns and pizza dough. We’ll get some more fresh pasta in both short and long shapes on Tuesday, we just don’t know which ones yet! Bellegarde was out of crostini last week, but we should be getting more on Wednesday, along with fresh bread and brioche buns.

  • Local Produce: Muscadine grapes, Fuji, Golden Delicious, Jonagold, Mutsu or Red Delicious apples, lemongrass and oregano, broccoli or sunflower microgreens, romaine lettuce, baby arugula, komatsuna, tat soi or braising mix, beautiful striped eggplant, jalapeño peppers, red beets, slicing cucumbers, red rover radishes and zephyr squash. We’re expecting more arugula, beets, garlic, microgreens, okra and shishito peppers on Tuesday, plus we’ll be restocking salad greens, cucumbers and zephyr squash from Homegrown in Folsom on Thursday as usual.

  • Plant-Based Protein: Plain, black mushroom or lemongrass red chili tofu as well as fried tofu cubes in both flavors.

  • Bone Broth: Currently due to a required labeling change, we only have chicken bone broth from A&A Acres or pet bone broth from Credo Farms, but we’re getting new beef broth from Mother Broth on Wednesday.

  • Forest-Raised Pork: Bones, uncured jowls, trotters, smoked hocks on sale, plus regular belly bacon or jowl bacon, bacon ends, bone in or boneless chops, stew meat, Boston butt or picnic shoulder roasts, spare ribs, crosscut hocks, smoke Andouille, brat, breakfast, Cajun or Italian links, ground breakfast, chorizo or Italian sausages, plain ground pork, ears, liver, tongue, tails, lard and lard bar soap!

  • Grassfed Beef: Still just have two pound packs of ground beef, tri tip, meaty soup bones (from the shank) and fat to tender into tallow. Our two huge steers are still dry aging at the butcher and they’ll cut them next week and we should pick up the end of that week or early the next week.

  • Grassfed Buffalo: In the meantime, there’s also ground buffalo from Bayou Sarah Farms, too.

  • Wild-Foraged Goat Meat: We just have ground goat meat, shanks, riblets, rib racks and bones while we wait for the butcher to finishing processing the beef and goat we brought in together and make the new goat sausages. The sausages flavors will include a Greek gyro, jalapeño, Italian and chorizo (ground/loose, large links and small links this time)!

  • Pastured Poultry: There’s plain or traditional/seasoned bone broth, plus whole chickens, drumsticks, wings, frames/bones for broth, skin and livers, along with dehydrated feet and skin for pet treats. A&A Acres starts processing for their fall season on Tuesday, so on Wednesday, we’ll be able to restock half chickens, breasts, tenders, thighs and leg quarters!

  • Gulf Seafood: We’ve got smoked yellowfin tuna in two sizes, plus filets of tuna, yellowedge grouper, red snapper and sheepshead, along with grouper or golden tilefish taco strips, soft-shell crabs, tenderized alligator strips, crawfish tails and all sizes of shrimp.

  • Coffee & Tea: We have lots of herbal teas from Family Fungi and a good array of whole bean and ground coffee from Flamjeaux, restocked late last week. And we’re also stocked up on SereniTEA from Sage’s Sea Moss.

  • Dips & Condiments: We’ve got a variety of hummus flavors and sizes to start the week, with another restock on Thursday as usual.

We also have ginger lemon, hibiscus, hoppy orange, lemon lavender or sea salt watermelon from La Rive. Plus there’s kimchi from VEGGI and chow chow and giardiniera from Resurrection Gardens.

  • Preserves: There’s tons of variety in fruit jams and jellies, pepper jellies and pickles from Josey’s Goods, plus large jars of fig preserves from Resurrection Gardens.

  • Herbal Remedies: New Sage’s Sea Moss gels are restocked, plus there’s Golden Milk spice blend and Red Turmeric and Ginger honey bombs from L4S Farms, several tinctures from L4S, ALL CAPS and Family Fungi, along with Reishi Elderberry syrup and a few elderberry juice and infused honey options from Cockeyed Farms.
