What We Have and What’s Expected for the Week of December 15th

Place Your Orders Here!

We have so much to highlight in our market heading into the week, it's hard to know where to start.

First, we finally got in some beautiful citrus last week and there’s more where that came from when we run out this week.

Unfortunately, we haven't been able to source any Louisiana citrus this season because of widespread citrus greening and citrus canker issues affecting entire orchards, especially in Plaquemines Parish.

So we have red grapefruit and Cara Cara red navel oranges from a farm in Georgia. The satsumas we got in last week already sold out, so we got in large Sumo mandarins in their place. We should also be able to get Alabama satsumas in on Tuesday.

The other highlight of the produce category right now might be all of our leafy greens, including heads of gorgeous frisée, radicchio and two types of head lettuce. There's also bagged salad greens from Homegrown in Folsom and Compostella Farm, plus collards, mustard greens and caraflex cabbage and more baby kale bags and curly kale bunches from River Queen is coming on Tuesday evening.

There's tons of mushrooms and herbs, plus gold or purple cauliflower, broccoli, carrots, radishes and beets, squashes, sweet potatoes and apples.

We also restocked beef from Little Creek last week and Gulf shrimp and fish from Anna Marie Seafood.

So there’s plenty of ground beef, various roasts and limited steaks, plus all three sizes of shrimp, red snapper filets (which have been harder to come by), along with red grouper filets, yellowfin tuna filets, sheepshead, snapper and grouper collars, smoked fish portions, soft-shell crabs and alligator strips.

Our pastured pork and chicken and wild-foraged goat categories are still well stocked and so is Tien Dat tofu, so with the beef and seafood restocks, we have tons of protein options.

We also have plenty of mixed size eggs from Local Cooling Farms, plus a sale on small pullet eggs from our new flock and a few half dozens of duck eggs from Compostella plus dozens of duck eggs from our own flock at Local Cooling Farms that just started laying.

There’s more eggnog coming from both Feliciana’s Best and Southern Maids on Tuesday and Wednesday, but unfortunately there won’t be heavy cream or half & half this week because Feliciana’s Best had a problem with their equipment.

Fresh bread and buns will be delivered on Wednesday and Friday and fresh pasta on Tuesday. In the meantime, we have a few shapes of frozen pasta and frozen honey oat loaves, brioche buns in two sizes and pizza dough balls.

Here's the full list breakdown of all our grocery categories:

  • Donations for Mutual Aid: We went heavy on mutual aid last week, so we didn’t do another drop this past Saturday, but we should have enough share purchases to do another drop by this coming Saturday!

  • Pastured Eggs: We have plenty of our mixed size chicken eggs from our three mature flocks, plus a sale on small pullet eggs from our juvenile flock. And duck eggs from both Compostella Farm and our flock that just started laying, too!

  • Pastured Dairy: Goat milk and six types of goat cheeses to start the week. On Tuesday, we’ll get more dairy from Feliciana’s Best, including pints or quarts of eggnog, but they won’t have heavy cream or half & half this week. And then Southern Maids will deliver more goat milk, creole cream cheese, chèvre, yogurt and a few types of goat feta on Wednesday as usual.

  • Bread & Pasta: We have frozen brioche buns in stock in hamburger or slider size, plus frozen honey oat loaves and pizza dough balls, as well crostini. We’ll get fresh brioche buns, baguettes, ciabatta, country and honey oat loaves on Wednesday and Friday from Bellegarde.

  • Local Produce: Cold-pressed ginger and turmeric juices, red grapefruit, red navel (Cara Cara) oranges, and Sumo mandarins, three types of apples, frozen blueberries and cilantro, dill, garlic chives and scallions with more parsley coming on Tuesday. There’s also turmeric root, seven varieties of gourmet mushrooms, a few types of microgreens, frisée two types of head lettuce, Treviso radicchio, arugula, lettuce, mustard blend, spring mix and baby tatsoi greens as well as heads of caraflex cabbage and bunches of collards and mustard greens. And the rest of the produce category is filled out by heads of broccoli, broccolini bunches, gold or purple cauliflower, orange or rainbow carrots, extra large red beets, large golden beets, hakurei turnips, purple daikon, red rover or watermelon radishes, acorn, delicata and red kuri squashes and sweet potatoes.

  • Plant-Based Protein: Stocked up on tofu to start the week, with plenty of blocks of plain, plus black mushroom or red chili lemongrass and fried tofu cubes in both flavors, too.

  • Bone Broth: Restocked! So there’s plenty of beef, chicken, trinity and two types of pet bone broth.

  • Forest-Raised Pork: Sold out of a few sausages this week, but still have most favorites! There’s breakfast, chorizo and Italian ground sausages and bratwurst, breakfast and Italian links, plus smoked Andouille links. We also have plenty of bacon, cured bacon ends, new jowl bacon, pork stir fry strips, bone-in or boneless chops, picnic shoulder roasts, organs, ears, tails, fat to be rendered or already rendered lard and lard soap! We also are continuing our sale on bones, jowls, smoked hocks, spare ribs and trotters.

  • Grassfed Beef: From Little Creek, we restocked ground beef, ribeye, NY strip and sirloin steaks, as well as chuck, round and shoulder roasts and Dino rib racks. We also have fat to render and tallow balm. And just today we brought six cattle to one of our processors, at long last! So it will dry age for 14 days and then we’ll pick it up in early January and have our own Local Cooling Farms beef back in stock to start the year.

  • Wild-Foraged Goat Meat: We’re continuing our 15% off sale on the entire category — so ground goat, loin chops (mini t-bones), rack steaks (rib chops), boneless stew/kebab meat, neck and shoulder roasts, shanks, rib racks and bones! We also brought more goats in with the beef, so we’ll be adding some new cuts and even some goat sausages in January, since we’re using our usual pork butcher this time and they have some other options.

  • Pastured Poultry: There’s whole birds from Credo Farms, plus half chickens, breasts, tenders, thighs, drumsticks, frames and feet, plus ground chicken and several types of sausages from A&A Acres. We also have leg quarters, wings and livers from Pearl River Pastures. Should be restocking chicken hearts on Wednesday.

  • Gulf Seafood: More red snapper filets are here! They are a customer favorite, but harder to fish lately. Plus there’s red grouper filets, yellowfin tuna filets, sheepshead, soft-shell crabs, alligator strips, red grouper collars, smoked almaco jack portions and all three sizes of shrimp.

  • Coffee & Tea: We restocked coffee from Flamjeaux this week and we’re thrilled that they were able to remove tariff pricing for now at least! We’re all stocked up, but we’ll get some more in on Thursday since they are closed next week and the week following. There’s also lots of herbal and reishi teas from Family Fungi and cold brew, chai concentrate and simple syrups from Church Alley.

  • Dips & Condiments: We have at least one of each flavor and size of hummus to start the week, but we’re out of pesto. We’ll restock more of both on Thursday.

  • Pantry: Glazed pecans are back in both sizes! And there’s lots of infused vinegars, plus salts and sugars from Rose Wagon Ranch, along with Texas olive oil and balsamic vinegar and pecan oil and pecan butter from Guidry Organic Farms and apple cider vinegar from Scott’s Orchard. There’s also other mushroom and kelp-based seasonings, dehydrated mushrooms, mushroom powder, soup & dip mix, chili oil and hot sauce and more! Crop to pop-corn should be restocked by mid week.

  • Pet Treats: Dehydrated turkey gizzards and chicken livers from A&A Acres and two types of pet bone broth from Credo Farms.

  • Sweets: Plenty of our Wisconsin maple syrup, plus local raw honey, elderberry juice, infused blueberry honey and creamed honey.

  • Rice, Grains & Stone Ground Corn Products: Lots of rice, grits, cornmeal and whole grain and clay pea options from Two Brooks Rice and Marsh Hen Mill, plus stone-milled flours from Barton Springs Mill and Bellegarde.

  • Ferments: Restocked on two flavors of La Rive kombucha, as well as all three flavors of Gingerbooch kombucha and probiotic lemonade or limeade. There’s also a few types of kimchi from VEGGI Coop and Resurrection Gardens, as well as kraut, giardiniera and chow chow.

  • Preserves: Lots of great fruit jams, jellies and preserves available from Josey’s Goods, plus pepper jellies and pickles. We are restocking strawberry jam, pepper jellies and various pickles on Tuesday!

  • Herbal Remedies: Turmeric and ginger tinctures, plus various lovely mushroom and herb tinctures from Family Fungi along with reishi and herbal teas. There’s also Mineral Manna electrolyte oxymel and a few elderberry syrups and juices from Family Fungi and Cockeyed Farms.
