What We Have and What’s Expected for the Week of August 18th

Who doesn't love a food rainbow?

We are definitely reaching the August doldrums with tomatoes and a few other things winding down, but we are alway trying to keep it as bright and beautiful and colorful as we can in our produce lineup!

There’s a few microgreens in stock to start the week from Rose Wagon Ranch. We keep upping the order, but they go fast when they come in on Friday afternoons.

And salad greens from Homegrown in Folsom will return tomorrow (Baby Tatsoi Asian Greens and arugula), along with more seedless slicing cucumbers.

We also have beautiful fairy tale eggplant, red okra, hakurei turnips, habanada sweet peppers, mixed summer squash and English and pickling cucumbers from Two Dog Farms, with more Armenian cucumbers expected from Two Dog on Tuesday, along with lunch box and shishito peppers.

On Tuesday, we also should be getting more watermelons and scuppernong grapes, the bronze muscadine grape variety with the funniest name!

There’s also plenty of eggs as our girls keep cranking even despite the heat, restocked Crop to Popcorn, lots of hummus and crostini to dip it in, plus frozen honey oat loaves and brioche buns in two sizes, pizza dough and pasta, too.

More fresh pasta and Feliciana’s Best dairy are expected to come in on Tuesday and more Southern Maids goat dairy and fresh bread and buns from Bellegarde are expected on Wednesday.

We also have lots of our woodland pork and wild-foraged goat meat, limited grassfed beef cuts and bones as well a plenty of pastured chicken, Gulf shrimp and limited Gulf fish.

We are also due for a restock on GraNOLA, but we have plenty of rice, grits, stone-milled flours, pecan butter and oil, olive oils and balsamic vinegars and herb0infused vinegars, kombucha, fermented veggies, pickles, jams and jellies, seasonings, herbal teas and tinctures, fresh roasted coffee and lots more.

Store & Hub Schedule/Hours

We’ve got a mostly regular hub schedule this week on Wednesday-Friday, except that Irish Channel is delivery only since Levee Bakery is closed for vacation.

  • Mandeville on Wednesday, 1-1:30 pm at Open Spaces Studios, 1281 N Causeway Blvd. #1, Mandeville. Home deliveries in an 8 mile radius around Open Spaces available before and afterwards. Deadline to order is 9 am on Wednesday.

  • Covington also on Wednesday, 3-3:30 pm at Nur’s Kitchen, 100 N Tyler St., Covington. Home deliveries in an 8 mile radius around Nur’s Kitchen available before and afterwards. Deadline to order is 9 am on Wednesday.

  • Lakeview on Thursday, 4-5 pm at the Bird’s Nest Cafe, 6508 Spanish Fort Blvd. Home deliveries in 70005, 70119, 70122 and 70124 beforehand. Deadline to order is noon on Thursday.

  • Delivery only in 70112, 70113, 70115, 70118, 70125 and 70130 in lieu of our Irish Channel Farm Hub, since Levee Baking Co. is closed for vacation. Home delivery is discounted to $8 versus $10 and will take place between 12-3 pm on Friday. Deadline to order is 10 am on Friday.

  • Donations for Mutual Aid: No mutual aid drop off this week since we’ve had some big ones recently and have to accumulate more shares. Thanks so much for your continued support and gifts so that we can do this!

  • Pastured Eggs: Lots of eggs in stock and plenty more where that came from.

  • Pastured Dairy: There’s some chocolate milk pints on sale from last week and then we’re expecting fresh whole milk, heavy cream, half & half, chocolate milk and creole cream cheese on Tuesday and more goat milk, chèvre, crumbled, brined, whipped and marinated feta, plus yogurt on Wednesday, too.

  • Bread & Pasta: Frozen mezzi rigatoni pasta, plus frozen brioche buns in both sizes, honey oat loaves and pizza dough. There’s also crostini. Fresh bread and buns coming Wednesday and a bunch of pasta coming Tuesday.

  • Local Produce: Starting the week fairly limited with just frozen blueberries, garlic, two types of microgreens, fairy tale eggplant, red okra, habanada peppers, English or pickling cucumbers, hakurei turnips and summer squash mix. We’re expecting more basil, Asian pears, watermelons, bronze muscadine grapes, salad greens, Armenian and slicing cucumbers and more on Tuesday.

  • Plant-Based Protein: Plain, black mushroom tofu and red chili lemongrass tofu, plus black mushroom fried tofu cubes.

  • Bone Broth: Down to just chicken broth and pet bone broth, but should be restocking those as well a beef and trinity on Friday.

  • Forest-Raised Pork: There’s pork tenderloins, lot of sliced bacon, bone-in or boneless chops, Boston butt or picnic shoulder roasts, several linked or ground sausages and smoked Andouille, liver, kidneys, tails, tongue and fat to render for lard. On sale we have bacon ends, spare ribs, smoked hocks and trotters.

  • Grassfed Beef: We’re low on beef a we wait to process the next round (just two weeks or so from processing and month from restocking now), but there’s bones on sale, plus slider patties, chuck eye steaks, sirloin tip steaks, tenderized round steaks, riblets, short ribs and trim/fat to render.

  • Wild-Foraged Goat Meat: We have plenty of goat meat, including ground goat, loin or rib chops (also known as rack steaks), chuck (shoulder) or leg roasts, neck roasts, stew meat/kebab pieces, ribs, shanks, bones and paya (trotters), Rocky Mountain oysters and heads.

  • Pastured Poultry: Still fairly stocked up on chicken! There’s all the linked sausages, plus breakfast sausage patties and whole and half birds. We also have all the cuts this week: tenders, boneless breasts, thighs, leg quarters, drumsticks, wings, back and neck packs for broth and livers and hearts. Expecting more chorizo links and plain ground chicken on Wednesday.

  • Gulf Seafood: Finally there’s more shrimp, in all three sizes! Plus there’s also soft-shell crabs, sheepshead, tenderized alligator strips, grouper collars and smoked fish portions — both almaco jack and barracuda.

  • Coffee & Tea: We’ve got whole bean or ground coffee in five different roasts and origins, restocking even more on Thursday. Plus there’s cold brew, chai concentrate and simple syrups from Church Alley (including restocked 16 ounce vanilla simple syrup) and a variety of herbal teas from Family Fungi.

  • Dips & Condiments: Various flavors of hummus and expecting even more, plus pesto on Thursday.

  • Pantry: Glazed pecans, pecan butter and pecan oil from Guidry’s, plus black garlic, lion’s mane or oyster mushroom powder and Caps & Cream soup and dip mix from ALL CAPS and dried mushrooms from Family Fungi, two kinds of mushroom seasoning, chili oil from VEGGI Coop, hot sauces, Texas olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Plus we have all the new herb-infused salts, sugars and vinegars from Rose Wagon Ranch.

  • Pet Treats: Dehydrated chicken necks, feet and liver available, plus Pet Bone Broth.

  • Sweets: Plenty of our Wisconsin maple syrup, plus local raw honey, elderberry juice, infused elderberry honey, infused blueberry honey and creamed honey.

  • Rice, Grains & Stone Ground Corn Products: Lots of rice, grits, cornmeal and whole grain and clay pea options from Two Brooks Rice and Marsh Hen Mill, plus restocked stone-milled flours from Barton Springs Mill and Bellegarde.

  • Ferments: Three flavors of Gingerbooch and four flavors of kombucha from La Rive, plus various kimchi and kraut options from Gingerbooch, VEGGI Coop and Resurrection Gardens.

  • Preserves: Various pickles (dill, bread & butter, squash and zucchini and beets), plus lots of fruit jams and jellies and preserves and pepper jellies.

  • Herbal Remedies: New turmeric and ginger tinctures, plus various lovely mushroom and herb tinctures from Family Fungi along with reishi and herbal teas. There’s also Fire Cider, Mineral Manna electrolyte oxymel and a few elderberry syrups and juices from Family Fungi and Cockeyed Farms.
