The End of Strawberry Season, Lots of Mushrooms, Eggs, Chicken, Tofu, Hummus, New Seeds & More!
What We Have and What’s Expected for the Week of April 28th
Place Your Orders Here!
Louisiana strawberries have one of the longest seasons of any produce item we source, particularly in the fruit realm, but even they have to come to an end!
We got the first strawberries in December this year, they survived the snow and freezes (under row covers) and now they’re coming to an end as the heat sets in. We have 2 quart/pound clamshells from Faust Farms this week. We might be able to get one more delivery from Carona Farms when those run out, but we’re not totally sure yet. So if you want some, claim them while we’ve got them!
It seems like we finally have started to meet demand with eggs (thanks to extras from A&A Acres, Credo Farms and Pearl River Pastures) and we have a bunch in stock to start the week and we were also able to drop the price down from $9 to $8.50.
We are stocked up on chicken from those three farms, as well, including new chicken tenders!
Plus there’s lots of tofu from Tien Dat, hummus and pesto from Nur’s Kitchen and our Local Cooling Farms beef, pork and goat meat. We have a good amount of fish, but are our of shrimp, so will likely do a seafood restock this week if we can.
There’s lots of beautiful gourmet mushrooms from Screaming Oaks mushroom farm, along with our usual salad blends from Compostella Farm, plus beets, kale, carrots, radishes, sweet potatoes and more. We will get a bunch more herbs, microgreens, head lettuces, kale, Swiss chard and possibly even cucumbers and summer squash from River Queen Greens on Wednesday morning.
Plus we have lots of frozen pizza dough, plus brioche buns and honey oat loaves from Bellegarde, with fresh deliveries coming in on Wednesday and Friday as usual. There’s goat milk, cheeses and yogurt from Southern Maids, a few Feliciana’s Best items on sale from last week and more coming in on Tuesday afternoon as usual.
And finally there’s some new dog chews from Pearl River Pastures and we also got a bunch more seeds in stock for your summer gardens, including lots you can plant right now. Check out our What to Plant By Month Guide here.
