Aquaponics is the commingling of fish farming (aquaculture) and growing plants without soil (hydroponics)

In hydroponics, we add the exact elements to the water that plants need to thrive. In aquaculture, the water quickly becomes nutrient rich due to the fish digesting their food and excreting waste. As the plants consume the nutrients, they help purify the water for the fish.

This process, along with an active microbial system, creates a “closed loop” sustainable system for the fish and the plants. While we don’t sell full aquaponic systems, we have everything you need to begin growing plants in an aquaponic system once you have set up your fish tank. This includes:

  • Air stones
  • Tubing
  • Grow tables and various pots and containers
  • Growing media: perlite, coconut coir or expanded clay pebbles
  • pH test kits and, depending on the pH of your water, pH Down or pH Up solutions
